Dating a convicted felon

Both in our 40’s, he wasn’t my usual type but there was something about him. I did some research, read things online, looked at the Unlock website and forums. Then I found out via a mutual friend that he had been in prison! I confided in a few close friends, most of them warned me to steer clear, told me I’d made the right decision. He cites this experience as generating his lifelong commitment to redeem himself and to work for change in the lives of street youth. The person you are looking to date may not be a better person because they are a criminal, but they could be a better person because of the way addressing their crime has made them to become.2. There are people who commit crimes who do not know that they are committing a crime at the time.He is currently attending school to be a veterinary technician and said he is able to get a job in that field regardless of his background, but I am not convinced. I love everything about him, but I know already my friends and family will not accept him with this background and they would tell me I need to get out of this toxic relationship.Should I stay for the long haul and jump the hurdles with him or flee and never look back?

After all how on earth do you tell someone (new and that you’re developing feelings for)? In the time I’ve known him he has only ever been hardworking, caring, kind, loving, supportive and generous.

Prison, crime and the world he’d moved in were totally foreign to me. I ended the relationship, but I just felt so sad, it didn’t feel right.

I have a responsible job in education and 2 teenage children, how could I carry on seeing him now? The local newspaper painted an awful picture but somehow I just couldn’t connect the two men together. I only knew the funny, kind, caring man I’d been dating.

He is funny, cute, smart, and we get along together like peanut butter and jelly. He is a felon with not just one, but four felonies, one being serious, plus multiple misdemeanors.

This is the second guy I have fallen for with a criminal background and I don’t know how I should handle it.
